Common Foodies Review | Delicious Guilt-Free Snacks

Hello, Explorers!

We are back with some delicious content for you. During the holidays, our friends gifted us with a package of these delicious, traditional snacks. Diana instantly recognized them because they look exactly like the snacks from her childhood. The colorful tamarind bites, the crispy amaranth wafers, and the crunchy churritos brought on a feeling of nostalgia. While continuing our health journey, we have tried to cut out as much salt and sugar as we possibly can. We usually wouldn’t even go down the snack aisle when shopping because we already know how much sugar and salt is put into all the treats that we love to eat. However, we were so happy to read the small list of ingredients for all of Common Foodies’ products. They are hand-crafted treats with quality products while keeping a focus on the health aspect of foods we eat.

Common foodies is a company that was focused on finding sweet and savory snacks that did not compromise a healthy lifestyle. They also work with Mexican Artisans in producing quality snacks, while reinventing the traditional sweets that we have come to love. “Common Foodies was launched in March 2020 alongside their cofounders, Luna and Isabella who instantly became friends through their workout studio and their healthy lifestyle goals. These health and wellness lovers had a vision to change the healthy and dietary snacking industry -- No more of those unsavory snacks! . While starting on their mission to revolutionize the health industry, they also used it as a perfect excuse to bring in the flavors from their Hispanic roots that they love so much!” - commonfoodies.com

*Sugar-Free Amaranth Squares…

Amaranth is a pseudo-cereal that is plant-based and can only be described as miniature cereal puffs. We were so excited to try these sugar-free chocolate squares made up of thousands of crunchy amaranth pearls. It is a decadent treat that has a rich chocolatey taste.

*Pink Chai Obleas (wafers)…

We were given two packs of these amaranth wafers: Pink Chai & Cocoa. What I love most about them is the fact that they have 0% sodium, 0% sugar, and 100% guilt-free. They have a subtle, natural sweetness about them because it is a product made out of amaranth, and that was the perfect amount of sweetness to enjoy these simple flaky delights!

*Maizetas (Corn Nuts) Ranchero Flavor…

There were so many treats that were included in our box from Common Foodies. All types of flavors, scents, colors, and textures, without the guilt of eating unhealthy snacks.

One of our personal favorites was this savory package of Maizetas. Unlike other similar products, these Corn Nuts weren’t greasy or salty. They had an amazing texture because they were popped using water vapor as the process. Maizetas are the perfect snack when hunger strikes.

*Spicy Mango Cubirindos…

Kyle’s absolute favorite of all the treats we were sent was the sweet and spicy mango cubes. With a delicious tamarind flavor, these cubes were easily fought for every time we felt like a craving was upon us. Sweet mango covered with a mild spiciness made this mouth-watering fruit snack one of our top choices!

*Churritos de Limon…

These delicious crunchy treats were made out of amaranth flour and were perfectly seasoned with a small amount of sea salt. Sometimes, these types of crunchy snacks are overly processed and heavily salted. In comparison, they were perfectly balanced in all their flavors and never felt overly greasy.

*White Chocolate Amaranth Obleas (Wafers)…

Lastly, we were sent these very deluxe amaranth wafers that were coated on the edges with a dark chocolate mixture and dipped in little amaranth pearls. There were two types included in our order, a white chocolate version and a milk chocolate version. These wafers were extremely decadent and rich. They reminded me of the types of snacks that I would encounter the street vendors selling back in Mexico. You can tell that the handcrafted quality of these wafers was so different from any factory-made. They are fragile and delicate chocolatey delights.
