Lesson #6: Spirit (Day 11)

Follow along with Day 11 in your workbook.

Hello, Explorer!

Self-Care for the Soul

Self-care for the soul is always confusing for people that are practicing self-care for the first time. The misconception is that the spirit needs to connect with a higher power. While this is a popular view, self-care for the spirit does not need to have a direct connection to religion. Whether religion is involved or not, the focus needs to be on the deepest parts of YOU.

Spirituality is about having a sense of perspective beyond the day-to-day of life. A deeper connection with the world is key here, and the connection needs to be made to a world that goes beyond just the individual person. Spirituality involves thinking about the meaning of life – our life and our purpose. We learn about the human experience, and we learn how to connect with people around us. Practice compassion, encourage charitable acts, kindness, elevate yourself, and seek personal growth.

Now, let’s get to creating a Spiritual Self-Care Plan. When you feel like you need an outlet or when you feel that your spirit is clouded with negativity and toxicity, this plan will help you stay grounded and secure in your roots. Below are several activities that can help you by allowing yourself to experience your inner-self and your inner voice to reach the depths of your soul. Out of all these ideas, which ones can you see yourself adding to your self-care plan? Make sure to write them down into your PDF workbook, journal, or planner.

 – Engage in reflective practices like meditation.

– Go on nature walks.

– Attend a church/mosque/temple or a place of worship.

– Practice yoga.

– Start a daily gratitude log.

– Light candles and create a hyggeligt environment.

– Begin your day with a daily devotional.

– Burn incense or essential oils.

– Surround yourself with crystals.

– Become in sync with your senses.

– Rest on one day of the week.

– Do a good deed or charitable act.

Assess how your spirit is feeling every day. Once you start listening to what it is telling you through your inner thoughts and voice, then you are able to cater to your soul’s needs.

Are you feeling depleted? Close your eyes, and try reciting spiritual affirmations.

Do you feel like your life lacks purpose? Try signing up for a volunteer day, and see how you can help others.

There are so many options that you are able to choose from. Treat your soul not to what it wants, but to what it needs. Your spirit is unique and one-of-a-kind, so treat your spirit as such. You have the power to take control of your life and how you want to live.

Hope this provides some inspiration for your spiritual self-care journey.
