Lesson #9: Leading A Life Of Self-Care (Day 18)
Follow along with Day 18 in your workbook.
Hello Explorer!
Everlasting Self-Care
You have finally made it to the last lesson on our 21 Days to Self-Care Course! Not only have you learned about yourself on a deeper level, you have also learned how to make a self-care plan for your mind, body, and spirit. You have acquired an insight into the Scandinavian lifestyle of “slow living” and how to practice self-love every day.
Now that you have been 18 days into your 21-day journey, what kind of changes have you seen lately? What habits have you implemented? What type of growth and shifts have you been experiencing?
The way to create an everlasting life of self-care is to welcome change with an open mind and heart. Every moment is a moment to find ways to care for yourself. From finding forgiveness for yourself to finding time to rest, self-care could be any activity where you find joy and comfort. Do the things that you love. Learn more about yourself and become in tune with your inner voice.
Start making sustainable changes to your life, changes that could be small and grow from there. Take a moment to rest your mind from the day’s baggage. Feed yourself quality ingredients that help nourish your body. Take up a hobby in becoming eco-friendly, and clean up the environment around you. Keep a gratitude journal nearby and log what you are grateful for every day. Recite morning mantras and positive affirmations that help fuel the positivity within you. Try being tech-free for one day a week, or if that seems like a bit much, then go ahead and try half a day. Without the constant feed of information and digital notifications, you will discover the absolute joy of being present in the moment and not letting life pass you by. Take walks often, relish in your natural surroundings. Connect with others; call them, message them, send letters and tell people how much they mean to you. Practice minimalism and make your home an oasis of zen and serenity.
Above all, treat yourself, love yourself, take care of yourself. True transformation takes place when you are truly happy on the inside. Once you have taken care of yourself by making You a priority then, and only then, are you able to take care of others as well. Transform your life hour-by-hour, day-by-day. Self-Care is everlasting…
How do you know when you have reached the epitome of self-care? The moment can vary and you must discover yours on your own. Trust us, you will know and it will happen. In the meantime, we will share ours. An intimate scene into our lives: It is Sunday, our favorite day, the one we look forward to all week long… A day of quiet, we are sitting next to each other in our room illuminated by natural evening glow and candlelight, soft music in the background, enjoying a cup of tea and biscuits, our journals laid out on the table from us having written in them a couple of hours prior. Our phones are turned off, silenced, far away from us. A slight breeze as the rain outside comes down softly, creating white noise, and we listen in to the symphony of birds chirping. No one is talking, but we look out into the rain as our breathing becomes slower and deeper. A smile effortlessly forms on our faces as we feel inner contentment wash over us. This moment is the moment that lets us know that we are happy. This is true joy, pure joy. Enjoying the simplicity of life and feeling absolute contentment…
