Hello Explorers!

One evening, after my nightly skincare routine I took a good look in the mirror to appreciate how much hard work I pour into my dermis. I was very happy with the results, seeing as I took the fantastic advice from a makeup artist long ago to start wearing SPF, anti-wrinkle cream, facials oils, and cleansing properly. The next morning, while sitting parked in my car at work, I began putting on my makeup. Once I finished, I looked up at the mirror and realized how dry, lifeless, and aged my skin was looking. I was so confused about why it would change so suddenly from the night before. It was then that I took a good look at the cosmetics I had in my pouch, and the answer was simple. I needed to make make a change for the better.

The realization

My makeup bag consisted of mostly luxury & some drug-store liquid formulas (which dry and crease), and powders (which dry and crease). I was so unhappy with the results that I have grown so accustomed to over the years. I usually stick to the same makeup routine, a very minimal and natural one. However, the revolving door of purchasing products seems to never end. I guess I was never extremely satisfied with the quality and results.

I knew it was time to make a drastic switch, this couldn’t possibly be as good as it gets. I like wearing makeup because I like that I can alter my look ever so slightly or transform my usual look completely when a situation calls for it. I like my natural makeup look, I just didn’t know where to start in terms of products. That is until words like “green beauty”, “natural makeup”, “organic beauty products”, and “skincare makeup” kept popping up on my Pinterest. Curiosity was definitely peaked.

After having watched many videos about celebrity makeup bags, and the products they use, I kept seeing RMS Beauty pop up in half of Hollywood’s makeup routines. The words “youthful glow”, and “lit from within” were descriptions that were attached to names like Miranda Kerr and Emma Watson, who are known for their minimalistic, and natural everyday makeup looks. However, I knew that they are able to afford any products they wanted, the question is, could I?

What is Green Beauty?

Green beauty is all about using skincare or makeup products that are organic, natural, and eco-friendly. “Green” is also an umbrella term that is used to describe the contents of the products as manufactured with sustainable and renewable resources. They are non-toxic to the consumer and the environment. Some have a low percentage of synthetic ingredients that are safe and healthy. While others are considered “raw” in the sense that the ingredients included are completely derived from its source without having been treated, heated, or modified in any sense. That is exactly what RMS beauty is all about; taking the raw ingredients in their natural state and allowing for the nutrients, and vitamins to interact with your skin.

The value

Organic, all-natural makeup is all the rave. Consequently, the price point is the same as designer brands. As a budget-friendly type of woman, who lives in the SF Bay Area, I would usually stay away from a $30 concealer since it feels like you are giving away your paycheck to monthly rent, groceries, and paying $15 for a salad, a salad! Besides, there are many cheaper brands fighting to stay in the competitive market that is the beauty industry. However, I wasn’t looking for cheap, instead, I was looking for value.

As I began diving into RMS Beauty, one of the top organic makeup brands. I read that the founder Rose Marie Swift, who is a celebrity makeup artist, wanted to create makeup that was all-natural because she saw the importance of skincare. A line of products that would provide anti-aging components, and skin-healing properties that can give you a beautiful, glowing look without compromising your health. RMS Beauty is all about supporting your natural beauty and health.

Skincare & makeup all rolled into one? That’s great value right there!

Most of the products range an average of $28-$45. Although they tend to last most consumers about an entire year and a half, in the end, they end up being extremely good value.

Minimalism at its best

The simple minimalistic packaging makes it visually pleasing, not to mention, their products are recyclable. A better approach to the eco-friendly beauty industry. The versatility of RMS is my favorite aspect. You can use practically every product for your eyes, lips, and cheeks. The same flush of color can be used to make an overall tone to provide a natural look.

Although they do sell makeup brushes, Rose Marie Swift wanted to make products that are able to be used with your fingers. With that said, the need for makeup brushes is gone. The warmth of your fingers, as your swirl around, warms up and picks up the product easily because of the smooth, creamy consistency.

I decided to take the splurge and purchase four products that would become my basics for my everyday natural makeup look:

I have been wearing RMS beauty for a week now, and I can honestly say that I enjoy opening up my (much smaller) makeup pouch and being able to see every single product instead of chaos in a bag. My makeup routine has been narrowed down to 5 minutes; I don't have to look around for what I need, the products for my eyes, lips, and cheeks can be found in one single palette, and I don't need to use makeup brushes anymore to complete my natural everyday look.

I am all for making this switch a permanent one for an everyday routine. That being said, I will be reserving my other makeup for special occasions, but for now, I am loving the way I feel on the inside and on the outside with my “Green beauty” routine using RMS. Give it a try!

Pros:

  • Achieve a natural look

  • Great value because of its long-lasting nature

  • Minimalistic & compact packaging

  • Improves your skin health

  • Better for the environment

Cons:

  • Not suitable if you tend to have a more dramatic makeup look

  • There may be irregularities (bumps) in the actual product due to the fact that it is a raw, natural product and its contents may settle. (However, this does not affect application or result)

Goodbye Explorers!
