Hello, Explorers!

When I was a teenager, a makeup artist once said to me “start taking care of your skin now, and do not wait. Once you realize that you need to, it will be too late.” So, I started using anti-wrinkle cream, serums, and moisturizers that were part of my mother’s arsenal. Although I have yet to see a wrinkle, I am glad to say that this woman’s advice has proven very wise, and my older will thank me one day. My skincare routine is of great importance to me, and I like discovering new products that are affordable as well. I learned that as of a year ago, Trader Joe’s introduced its line of beauty & skincare products. However, no one was really talking about it, until now...

Why I use TJ beauty products

The first product I was given to try was the Lavender Salt Scrub. I tend to have sensitive skin at times, especially during the winter, but exfoliating is important to maintain healthy skin. I put the container in the shower and would use it 2-3 times a week (it is important to not do it daily, otherwise you will be stripping the skin of its essential oils). Not only did it smell amazing, but the lavender oil would keep my skin moisturized and dewy, long after I dried myself. Exfoliation and nourishment all-in-one!

I have tested many salt scrubs before, some from high-end brands that were gifted to me, and although I knew that they were good quality, once I finished the product I didn’t feel the draw to spend $50+ to repurchase. With TJ products, not only am I getting exactly what I need without all the fru fru but the amount included is more than GENEROUS for the price you are paying.

The quality & value

Just remember an important rule:

A facial product is meant for the face, but it can be applied in other parts if needed. Because it is made for the most sensitive skin on our bodies, it is safe to be put elsewhere too. Body products tend to have a thicker and richer consistency. Therefore, they should only be applied to your body below your neck.

In order of application:

  • TJ’s Rose Water Facial Toner: A refreshing and subtle facial spritz. After a shower/facial cleanse spritz 2-3 times on the face, and with clean hands pat down the formula on the skin. A toner usually acts as a base and helps set the pores for serums, oils, and moisturizers. Packaged in a pink plastic spritz bottle.

  • TJ’s Rose Facial Oil: A subtly-scented rose oil that can be used in the day, and at night. It is clear and medium-thick, it applies smoothly across the skin. If it is meant to be applied on the face, then it is also safe to be applied anywhere else as well. Any dry and rough patches like knees, elbows, and hands. Packaged in a minimalistic frosted glass bottle.

  • TJ’s Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer: A bouncy gel moisturizer with Aloe and Green Tea extract. A delicate and light formula that easily spreads out to give your skin an extra moisture barrier. Packaged in a frosted plastic container with cute retro designs!

Recommended 2-3 times per week (for the body)

  • TJ’s Lavender Salt Scrub: This salt scrub comes in generous proportions! 20 ounces of this oil-rich salt scrub has lasted me 6 months so far, and there is still half left. I recommended putting it on in the shower, due to the oil mixing with the steam causing an unexpected aromatherapy session. Packaged in a chubby tub.

The results

After using these four products for about six months now, I can tell you that they have easily made their way into becoming part of my skincare routine. My skin feels vibrant, dewy, and with a clear complexion. The beauty in TJ’s products is not only that they are affordable, but you can find them at your neighborhood TJ store for a fraction of what luxury brands cost.

I am excited to try their other products in their line, I have been eyeing them for quite some time. There is full confidence in knowing that not only have they received the stamp of approval by others, but without looking I know for sure that the prices will all fit within my budget. Skincare at an affordable price? Yes, please!
